Exit Tivo 2 Guide?
I don’t currently have a telephone line or the needed adapter, so I just want to watch and record like a VCR on my Tivo2. I was playing around with it and now it is asking me to connect a phone line. How can I get it off this screen? I can’t watch anything until I can exit this!
- PS – I tried to disconnect the cables…then I unplugged the unit…It didn’t work. Tivo is too smart!

The Tivo series 2’s and Series 3’s Demand a VALID subscription to RECORD or PLAYBACK the saved content. Tivo chose to do this when they came out with the Series 2’s. The Tivo’s WILL work for a Small time without the phone line or network connection being hooked up, but dredge up the Tivo NEEDS to phone home quite regularly to get the schedule updates for the Television programs.
So what you could do now is subscribe your Tivo service for a month then stop it again. Then you will have a few days or a week or so that you can view everything again. I know this kind of sucks though..
