Can you take stuff from your DVR and put it onto a dvd or transfer it to a computer?

I have a comcast HDTV DVR reciever and i want to know if there is anyway to conveying the programs in my dvr to a dvd, cd, or into my computer.

How do i get my HD Dish DVR to display in HD on my HDTV?

I have a Coax cable running into the tv but the hd channels are just SD. i went to the hd settings and tried different stuff but nothing worked. is it my cable?
